Dog survives 9-metre fall thanks to West Vancouver rescuers

West Vancouver Fire and Rescue contributors have pulled a pooch from a plummet dilemma in Cypress Falls Park.

In a social media message posted via the staff’s union Sunday afternoon (Feb. 27), they describe the trouble it took to retrieve 36-kilogram poodle-cross Chumlee after he fell down a nine-metre embankment.

“West Vancouver Engine 3, 4, 5 and Rescue 1 attended and performed a high-angle rescue. Chumlee is now safe and reunited with the owners,” the message said, simply earlier than 2 p.m.

Cypress Falls Park could be a perilous position for pooches. In April 2021, a Newfoundland named Raven was once killed after being swept over the falls.

“Be mindful of the environment. Our parks are amazing. They’re great to be enjoyed by all, including dogs, but we’re seeing time and time again where dogs are getting away and getting themselves into situations where it’s quite dangerous to the dog walker or the owner and to rescuers as well,” mentioned assistant leader Garrith Michael, on the time.

In February of 2019, crews pulled a Rottweiler named Boss from the creek. In September of 2020, crews carried out a high-angle rescue for a dog that broke unfastened from a qualified canine walker, and in February of that 12 months, they had been within the creek for a Labrador named Houston.
